DEPARTMENT OF PANCHAKARMA
INTRODUCTION
The panchakarma department of college is well distinguished / demarcated into under graduate and post graduate section. In shubhdeep ayurved medical college pg department of panchakarma was started since 2014 and there is continuously admission capacity of 5 students per year.
FACILITIES AVAILABLE
At College level
The Post-graduate Department is well equipped as per established norms for M.D. (Ayurveda) teaching and research.
The Under-graduate Department is also having all the required facilities as per curriculum of BAMS final.
The departments have separate complete libraries, internet, audio-visual facilities, models and charts for easy accession to the students and also for teaching staff.
IMPORTANCE
The department of Panchakarma deals with the therapy of detoxification of body. Various types of foods ingested and lifestyles adopted by the person may cause deposition of toxins in the body system. These toxins, if not eliminated, may lead serious disorders.
WHAT IS PANCHAKARMA?
Panchakarma deals with three types of management –
A. Poorvakarmas (Preoperative procedures) which consist three types of management these are
- Deepan, Pachan (improvement in appetite and digestion),
- Snehana (therapies which provide external application and ingestion of fatty materials)
- Swedana (Steam bath etc.).
B. Pradhanakarmas (Panchakarma) (Main therapies) are five which are
- Vaman (therapeutic vomiting for elimination of toxins from the stomach etc.),
- Virechana (therapy for elimination of toxins through purgation),
- Nasya (elimination of toxins through nostrils),
- Basti (elimination of toxins with the use of enemas) and
- Raktamokshana (elimination of toxins situated in the blood by blood letting).
C. Pashchat Karmas (Post-operatives) are the methods by which one can achieve rejuvenation of body system after debility caused by elimination of toxins.
At Hospital level
OUT PATIENTS DEPARTMENT (OPD)
In clinics routine check-up and different therapies are provided by experienced experts and therapists at OPD level. Patients can get treated and back to home or can resume his or her duties.
IN PATIENTNTS DEPARTMENT (IPD)
Patients are getting hospitalized and provided ultra modern and high tech facilities for the different required therapies by the Panchakarma expert consultant physicians and well trained technical staff. Patients can feel the comfort, get relaxed and cured in natural surroundings of lush green atmosphere.
TEACHING STAFF
The teaching staff is research minded, academically sound, well experienced and trained. All the members are completely devoted for students and also cordial and intimate towards patients.
